Spatial Data Analysis and Mapping

At Rural Focus, we believe that accurate and appropriate use of spatial data is an essential tool for rural policy analysis and planning. We make extensive use of Geographical Information Systems (the open source QGIS being our preferred platform) and spreadsheets. We keep abreast of the latest data releases and seek to use them in innovative ways.

Above all, we recognise that maps, charts and infographics have the power to communicate complex things in simple ways. We aim to use consistent design principles and colour to ensure that the conclusions of our analysis are presented clearly and attractively. We are firm believers in the old saying “A picture is worth a thousand words”.
